Climate and Clean Air Conference 2025 – ACE4ES Leads Agroecological Dialogue in Brasília
Brasília, Brazil | March 16–21, 2025 – Dr. Kwaku Onwona-Hwesofour Asante represented the Agroecology and Circular Economy for Ecosystem Services (ACE4ES) Consortium at the Climate and Clean Air Conference 2025, a high-profile global gathering focused on fast-tracking action against super pollutants ahead of COP30.
Under the theme “Accelerating Action on Super Pollutants: The Road to COP30,” the conference drew top policymakers, renowned scientists, civil society leaders, and over 200 international partners. Participants underscored the urgent need for strategies to reduce Short-Lived Climate Pollutants (SLCPs), including methane and black carbon, which offer swift pathways to climate mitigation.
Dr. Asante actively contributed to the Agriculture Hub, emphasizing ACE4ES’s pioneering agroecological solutions, such as integrated livestock-crop systems, biochar application, and circular economy innovations in Sub-Saharan Africa. His discussions highlighted practical tools and showcased successes from Ghana’s ACE4ES Multicultural Technology Park (MTP), generating significant interest among global stakeholders.
Key outcomes included commitments from participating countries to integrate SLCP mitigation strategies into updated national climate action plans (NDC 3.0), intensified capacity-building efforts, and enhanced emphasis on gender-responsive climate solutions.
The event strengthened ACE4ES’s international profile, fostering collaborative partnerships and positioning the consortium as a key contributor to global climate-smart agriculture and clean air initiatives.
ACE4ES remains committed to translating insights from Brasília into actionable initiatives, driving transformative agricultural solutions for climate resilience across Africa.
